Our VARITECTOR PU AC type I+II are used in industrial plants as well as private and public buildings. The growing number of sensitive devices requires ever better lightning and surge protection for power feeds.

The pluggable lightning and surge protection devices of VARITECTOR PU AC type I+II have a lightning impulse current Iimp = 12.5 kA and are used in lightning protection level III/IV. The devices are energetically coordinated type I, type II and type III according to IEC/EN 61643-11 (VDE 0675-11) and have a protection level UP ≤ 1.5 kV. Application-specific product configurations are available for the different network types.

The combined lightning and surge protection devices of the VARITECTOR PU AC type I+II are leakage current-free and particularly compact. They can be used in the pre- and post-metering area according to VDE-AR-N 4100. All devices are energy coordinated and fulfill the performance classes T1,T2, and T3 according to IEC/EN 61643-11 and VDE 0675-11 with a protection level up to ≤ 1.5 kV. Pluggable surge protection devices - Optimum protection in the smallest space

Surge protection is a mandatory component in all commercial and private real estate according to DIN VDE 0100-443 und -534. Easy-to-install and, above all, space-saving solutions are particularly popular here.

Our new VARITECTOR PU AC II+III surge protection devices provide optimum protection against surge damage. With a width of only 9 mm per pole, they are particularly compact and can therefore be used in all sub-distribution boards, charging stations, and many other applications. The modules fulfil the requirement classes of type 2 and 3. With a dischage current of 20 kA these products offer excellent and tailormade protection.

The proven surge protection devices of the VPU series are now also available in variants with integrated fuses. This eliminates the need for an additional fuse before the SPD. The combined type II+III surge protection devices have one back-up fuse per protective path and can be used universally in power distribution systems. The application-oriented pluggable product configurations allow flexible use in different network types.

High-performance surge protection for the North American market

According to NFPA 79, surge protection products must ensure voltage limitation according to the insulation coordination. This requirement is met by devices of the VARITECTOR PU US series. They are UL listed, which includes the requirements of NFPA 79. The product series has been specially adapted to the North American market. In addition to the requirements of UL 1449, it also meets the EN 50539-11 standard and can therefore be applied worldwide.

The supplementary VARITECTOR PU AC type I module was designed as a surge protection device for AC networks with a nominal voltage of 800 V AC. It is especially suitable as a surge protection device for Huawei SUN 2000 and PID 2000 inverters. The dedicated 3+MOV design ensures safe operation with PV inverter systems up to Uc 950 V.

Surge protection is becoming more and more important due to increasing digitalization.
